Portia A. Scott is the visionary, founder and current president of The Scott Lee Foundation, Inc. She was born and raised in Westchester County, New York and was the proud mother of Nicole Lynette Scott Lee for whom the Foundation is named. Ms. Scott recently retired from the workforce where she enjoyed a 17-year career as a litigation paralegal serving six years with the law firm of Ober Kaler Grimes & Shriver PC in both their Baltimore and Washington, DC offices and eleven years with Wilmer Hale, LLP in Washington, DC. Working in the legal environment was a “second career” for Portia who devoted 20 prior years of her professional work history to the radio and television industry, holding positions at ABC News and ABC, Inc. in New York City, the Mutual Broadcasting System Radio Network and the National Black Media Coalition in Washington, D.C. Her public and community service involvement has been diverse and lauded by Who’s Who Among Black Americans, the International Who’s Who of Professional and Business Women, and the Marquis’ Who’s Who of American Women.
Ms. Scott graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland University College at Adelphi, MD with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Legal Studies. She currently resides in Laurel, Maryland.
