NLSL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

BACKGROUND:  This scholarship was created to honor the memory of Nicole Lynette Scott Lee, who devoted nine years to a career as an account executive with Black Enterprise Magazine.  Its primary purpose is to attract persons of color to professional careers in sales, marketing, media relations, or advertising specifically targeting print or electronic media. We aspire to attract future industry professionals by supplying financial resources for African-American college students pursuing a degree in marketing, business administration or communications.

FOCUS:  This scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior level student who has committed to a career in sales, marketing, advertising, or media relations. The scholarship will be combined with an internship offered by a designated media-related organization.

CRITERIA:  Annual applicant eligibility includes a United States citizen, preferably an African American, who is enrolled and matriculating at an accredited four-year college or university as an undergraduate junior or senior level student, with a minimum sustaining 3.0 G.P.A. A supplemental book award may also be provided to a freshman or sophomore student with a business administration or communications major. Special consideration may be offered to members of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Scholarship applications are available online and must be printed and submitted for consideration via U.S. mail.  The scholarship award will be credited to the recipient’s college/school account in one installment.
